I was born, raised and educated in Germany, where I studied drawing, printmaking, photography, and painting at the Folkwang School of Fine Arts. I graduated with a masters degree and since the early eighties live in the United States.

In my art, old and new techniques and ideas complement each other. Working in new directions, I constantly find myself drawing historic, geographic, political and artistic connections to the past. Traditional processes like woodcut and etching go hand in hand with photo intaglio and fax machine. Strong influences from German Expressionism meet the sensibilities of line and space of the Far East.

The only constant is the interpretation of what we see in terms of delineation. Above all, everything is about drawing. Because of this reduction, I believe, that in our best moments, art reveals some of the world's truth and beauty.
