The majority of my paintings are landscapes, seascapes, and cityscapes. Most of my work is painted in plein air (on site). However, I also work in the studio. Nature inspires me and nature has been my number one teacher. In my work, I attempt to capture the essence of what IS, for just that slice of time. I am largely a self-taught artist. I continue to educate myself by frequently going to museums, art walks, studying and critiquing, conversing with other artists, occasionally taking workshops and reading most days. Currently the artists I admire and study independently are Clyde Aspevig, Matt Smith, and Scott Christensen.
