Kai Samuels-Davis
Figurative drawings, paintings, video

Kai Samuels-Davis, born in Catskill, New York began to focus on art at 13. At 16, he attended the Woodstock School of Art on full scholarship and, soon after, the Art Students League of New York. At 17, he began art school at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute before transfering to the fine arts program at SUNY Purchase. After graduating Cum Laude in 2003, he moved to California to attend the Masters program in film at Art Center College of Design. There he constructed his own curriculum fusing together video and fine art.

The subject of his work is the human portrait/figure and the emotion carried with it. Drawing inspiration from cinema, fashion photography and silent film stills, Kai fuses video and stop motion with his paintings to create a new experience for the viewer, showcasing the artistic process as well as the work itself.
