Taz is a downtown Los Angeles based artist originally from South Africa. Trained in traditional African wood carving, his roots are in sculpture. He began painting after moving to L.A. 16 years ago.

His current work explores the fresh textured stroke of oil against canvas or paper. Symbols come to him to be made evident and the result is serenely meditative pieces that are remarkably powerful.
