About Our Recycled Wood Furnishings

Most of the wood used is Douglas Fir, which comes from demolished barns and warehouses throughout California and the Pacific Northwest. After a building is torn down, the wood is collected, denailed, planed and then made into furniture. Recycled teak furniture is made in Indonesia. This wood comes from demolished housed and other structures. We offer collections in Arts & Crafts, Shaker and Modern styles.

We are dedicated to preserving the world's forest by using reclaimed materials whenever possible. There are many advantages to using recycled wood in addition to saving trees. Old wood is more stable than new, leading to fewer problems with swelling, splitting and warping. Much of the old, salvaged wood is very hight quality — quality that you no longer find today, and much of it is old growth, which is dense, tightly grained, and has a righer color tha new growth. Finally, there is no substitute for the patina of aged wood.
